Emirates Skycargo Consolidates Indian Operations

After a successful year in 2007 that witnessed a series of launches and capacity building by the airline, Emirates SkyCargo is now gearing up to further tap into the huge potential of the Indian market.

Launching its consolidation, Emirates SkyCargo has made a series of high-level appointments in the region. Keki Patel, who has spent the past four years as Cargo Manager Western India, has been promoted to the role of Cargo Manager India and Nepal. In his new position, he will oversee all of Emirates SkyCargo's activities in the burgeoning region.

The Western Region team has been strengthened with the creation of three new positions to facilitate the rapid cargo growth the area is experiencing. Sudeep Narayan has been appointed Sales Manager Key Accounts, Patrick Mascarenhas has been promoted to Cargo Sales Controller, and Niranjan Vadhavkar is now Cargo Controller Customer Services and Operations.

Speaking about his recent appointment, Patel said: "It is an honour for me to have been given the opportunity to head up Emirates SkyCargo's operations in a market as vital as India. In India, Emirates SkyCargo is on the brink of becoming one of the biggest and most exciting rates of expansion ever witnessed by any airline.

"India, by the sheer geography involved, is a diverse market with different challenges involved in each region. I am confident that with the enthusiastic and diligent team at SkyCargo, I can successfully lead them through what is undoubtedly one of Emirates' most exciting periods in the country."

Emirates SkyCargo operates three freighter flights a week to India – two to Mumbai and one Chennai – using Boeing 747Fs, which carry cargoes as diverse as pharmaceuticals to automobiles, and garments to telecoms equipment.

Commenting on the growth in the country, Emirates Senior Vice President Cargo Commercial Operations Peter Sedgley, said: "India has been a crucial region for the airline, especially given the growth witnessed there in the past two years. In 2008, Emirates SkyCargo aims to grow the cargo volumes we are carrying in and out of the country".

"The high-level appointments and introduction of higher-capacity aircraft to the region ensures that SkyCargo is properly prepared for some exciting times ahead in the Indian sub-continent," he added.

The Emirates SkyCargo route network spans the globe covering 99 destinations in 62 countries, on six continents offering the latest technologies in air cargo containers, ground handling equipment, and highly trained staff on some of the industry's most advanced aircraft.

Michelle Obama, Pepsi and Kraft Foods: Here’s to You, Your Courage and Your Leadership!

Obesity is a national crisis. Our seniors are Fat, our middle aged are Fat, our teenagers are Fat and so are our children AND they are getting Fatter!
You have heard the statistics.

Thankfully Michelle Obama, Pepsi, Kraft foods and others are taking the leadership in reducing the sugar, Fat and salt in their products.

The old corporate, unspoken and un-admitted motto for many in the fast food industry was a silent war of them and us and them.

Supply “It” and they will eat “It” and drink “It”! So what if they will get Fatter and more unhealthy and even die from preventable lifestyle induced diseases that are in our power to stop. That is neither our responsibility nor our problem. They don’t care about their health; our shareholders care about our investments. So let our profits soar. We’ll even supersize it and thereby profit some more!

For years, there were the cola wars and the burger wars. There was more sugar for the younger Pepsi Generation. Get them when they are young. We’ll give them toys, collector items for their parent and playgrounds. For their value conscious parents, we’ll make it larger: extra size, extra Fat, salt and sugar.

Serve “It” and they will buy “It” and we will have customers for life. They will bring their kids and grandchildren too. Corporate was right: They did and they got Fat and Fatter, as butts and profits soared.

We have ignored corporate greed and the public’s gluttony long enough. Excess is killing our people and bankrupting our society. It is time for change and time for our governmental and corporate leaders to help us, the common flock, DO something positive and permanent about what we eat and drink.

Pepsi is courageously facing the truth of errors past and willing to take the lead for a New Pepsi Generation. Bravo! So is Kraft. So is Michelle Obama.

Bravo to you and to those others who will follow suit, to those others who will change what we produce and what we sell to ourselves and to future consumers.

It has taken almost 50 years since Bob sang: “The times they are a changin!”
Bob Dylan

Finally there is a movement. There is New Leadership, New Rules, New Opportunities to address Wellness instead of creating and supporting illness for profit!

Our leaders can only lead those who are willing to follow. This is no longer about power, profit and control. This is about our wellness, our lives, our children’s and the lives of generations to follow.

Fat is Fat! Fat is also a metaphor for uncontrolled excess. We are bursting at our seams and it finally seems time to address wellness. We can’t afford to live this way any longer.
